Baby face September 11, 2006

Today I spent a lovely afternoon at my friend’s place, along with her three-month old baby boy who is absolutely adorable. What a sociable baby! Laughing and chatting away with us he was, until he got sleepy at which point he snuggled into me and let me jig him round the room for a while. Then into his bouncy chair to nod off for a well earned afternoon nap.

While he was asleep Mummy told me the trials and tribulations of lactating. Consider me well and truly educated in the field of human milk. Go on, ask me anything! ๐Ÿ˜›

How did you get your face up there? Is it a new wordpress feature? Must go and redesign my blog right now!

ps. How much milk does an average mum produce a day?

Don’t ask me how I got my face up there. It was a lot of messing about. Grr.
And the average mum produces a cereal bowlful at about 6 in the morning when a certain little chap wasn’t that fussed about drinking it the day before. Apparently. :O

Dear urbanblue,

Just to clarify the amount of milk produced in a day by an average mum…The cereal bowl was the amount expressed (not produced) at 4am (not 6am) when the little chap had slept through longer than usual. A baby sleeping through the night leaves mummy with very full, hard and sore breasts and one option is to milk yourself and the other to wake the baby up. Either way mummy does not get a full night’s sleep! The average mum produces exactly the amount of milk her baby needs – it’s mother nature working at it miracle best!
